Karen Maguire
Wellingtonian born and bred, Karen lives with her partner, teenage daughter, 3 dogs, 3 cats and 3 chooks in Lower Hutt.
Her Public Service career spanned 16+ years culminating in
being an auditor/trainer in computerised payroll systems.
With the birth of her daughter she became a nanny for twins and continued to do this until it became time to re-enter the more formal workforce.
Karen applied to do payroll services at Wellink and was thankfully turned down but asked to set up the Homelink service instead.
Karen has been with Wellink for 5½ years running the service and feels that she has found her niche in life in working with all the great folk involved in mental health services – the ability for her to disclose her mental health background without fear of prejudice has led to a peer led service that really works for the people we serve.
Karen is also part of the Wellington city network of providers of social housing and work to a recovery focussed, totally community immersed model of service provision.
